Breast augmentation surgery is the procedure of augmenting patient’s breast size and correcting breast plumpness and symmetry, by using silicon implants. Incision spots in breast augmentation surgeries are around the nipples or lower part of the breast. After the incision, the physician creates a small pocket under the breast tissue or muscle, and places the implant therein. Location of the implant is determined depending on the patient’s physical features.

Breast augmentation surgery must not be discomposed with breast lift operation. If you also have drooping, breast lift operation may be required as well. This operation can be applied in combination. Your physician will inform you during the examination.

Breast Prosthesis’ Structures

Silicon implants used in breast augmentation surgeries changes according to their shapes, contents and surfaces. The shape of mammal prostheses are divided into two as round and drop. Round prosthesis have equal horizontal and vertical bases. Drop prosthesis, on the other hand, is vertically longer and horizontally shorter, as women’s breasts. After determining the shape of your prosthesis, you need to choose its surface as well. Surface of prosthesis is divided into two as ragged and smooth. Because ragged surfaces prevent capsule formation, they are used more in breast augmentation surgeries.
